Raffle winners for glass floats 1, 2, and 3 will be drawn. You don't need to be present.

For the people who have not found a float, numbered hunting liceses will be drawn for glass floats not claimed (need to be present to win and have ID to match your hunting license)
2:00 p.m.
All numbered hunting licenses will be put in a drawing and one number will be drawn for $100. (Need to be present and have ID that matches your hunting license).

Note: 20 GLASS FLOATS CAN BE CLAIMED BY LOCAL RESIDENTS (OCOSTA SCHOOL DIST)
REMAINING GLASS FLOATS WILL BE CLAIMED BY OUR OUT OF TOWN VISITORS

Location: Chateau Westport, (Beach Room) 710 W. Hancock, Westport, 1:00pm on Saturday March 20th
Alan Rammer: (a avid beachcomber)will provide a program on “Fun Facts About NW Sea Life”
Including Beachcombing, NW Beaches, Bird Watching, Glass Floats, Whales, Shells, Fossils,
Light Houses etc. People are encouraged to bring items from the beach for identification.

DR Ebbsmeyer: will do a power point talk on “identifying Flotsam”
He will show 29 kinds of flotsam and talk of their significance to the health of the ocean and where they originated. For example: he will talk about those poison canisters that have been washing ashore and the most interesting flotsam found during the past year or so.



Show Rules

  1. Judged show open to children and adults, non-professionals only. 
    A display area for professionals will be provided, and if pieces are for sale they may be marked as such.


  2. One entry per division.


  3. Bases or plaques allowed wherever desired or needed.


  4. All wall pieces must be ready for hanging, please.


  5. Former winning entries not eligible.


  6. Absolutely no plastics, artificial flowers or synthetics except flotsam and jetsam.


  7. Show rules for divisions must be followed.
  8. Entries must remain until 4:00 pm Sunday.


  9. The Grayland Beach Community Hall will be open on Friday, between the hours of 4:00 pm and 8:00 to receive entries.


  10. Final Deadline for entries is from 7:00 - 8:30 am Saturday morning.


  11. Please make sure that you have appropriate water reservoir for 2 days water supply for live flower arrangements.

*While every precaution will by taken to avoid damage to entries, neither the Twin Harbors Beach Association or the Cranberry Coast Chamber will assume responsibility in the event of loss or damage. The Association
and Chamber reserve the right of refusal of any entry .All entries must remain until end of show.



Ribbons awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each Division.

 JUDGING CRITERIA

FINISHED OR NATURAL

All divisions pay close attention to whether piece is finished (has been waxed, rubbed, smoothed or had a coat of tongue oil added). 
If a piece has been finished with a hard acrylic-type material it will not qualify as an appropriate finish.  These items may be judged in the Potpourri Division. 
Natural means just that (as found) absolutely nothing done to it beyond what nature has achieved.

HANGINGS
Includes collages, painting on driftwood, driftwood and/or shell pictures, mobiles and macramé using driftwood. Judged on artistic arrangement, attention to detail and originality.  
Glues and commercial finishes may be used.

FREE FORM
Interesting art form or representing animated object. Free form is a linguistic form which occurs sometimes or always by itself (any shape) depicting liveliness and imagination.

WOOD CARVINGS ON DRIFTWOOD
Original carving on driftwood, natural or finished using a natural type of finish such as driftwood wax, tongue oil, etc. (non-plastic type
finish). 
Judged on imagination, skill in achieving carved representation and attention to detail.

MINIATURES
Not to exceed 8" in any direction.  Interesting art forms or representing animated object.
Judged on free form depicting liveliness and imagination.

FLORAL
Miniatures are not to exceed 8" in any direction.  
Please, no man-made materials.
Judged on imagination and creativity of arrangement, balance and form as well as compatibility of materials used. A division for florals with dried plant materials is judged separately.

FLOTSAM & JETSAM
 
Flotsam is such parts of the wreckage of a ship and it's cargo as is found floating on the water.  
Jetsam is goods thrown overboard to lighten a vessel in distress. 
Judging is based on how unusual an individual piece is or the creativity of a grouping.

What Is ...

Driftwood Wood Floating on or cast ashore by the water .
Flotsam Such part of the wreckage of a ship and its cargo as is found floating on the water .
Jetsam goods thrown overboard to lighten
a vessel in distress.
Free Form A linguistic form which occurs sometimes or always by itself, not having the limitation of a bound form (any shape). Liveliness and imagination.
