Water Harvest

Water havesting is practiced on very few bogs in Grayland. The majority of the cranberries are dry harvested instead. This machine knocks the berries off the plants into the water where they are floatd to a point where they are loaded into a truck. You can harvest very quickly with this method, but the drawback is that it makes the fruit wet, which is unacceptable for the fresh fruit market. As a result, these berries are used for juice and sauce. Prior to about 1985, all berries in Grayland were harvested by dry picking.
